<To whom it may concern>
APEV has held the "EV Design Contest for International Students" four
times from 2013 to 2019, every two years in conjunction with the Tokyo
Motor Show. In response to the widely spreading COVID-19, we have
postponed the contest in 2021 and are now holding a significantly
renewed 5th event in 2022.
We are pleased to announce that the first screening has been held, and
the passing teams were selected from among 82 teams (24 teams from 12
schools in Japan and 58 teams from 55 schools in 3 overseas countries)
that submitted their works.
The 26 teams from 18 schools that passed through the first screening
consisted of 8 teams from 8 schools in India and 18 teams from 10
schools in Japan.
Please see the List of the passing teams
https://www.apev.jp/en/news/List of the passing teams.pdf
★Students from teams that have passed the first screening will be given
the right to participate in Workshop I which is held on Tuesday, August
9, and will work hard to brush up their works for the second screening.
The theme of this year's contest is "Social Design and EVs: Proposals
for 2040," and we have set a specific year in the theme. We have
concluded that the contest should be about the role of EVs not only from
the viewpoint of transportation but also as a form of mobility that is
indispensable to people's lives and what makes people's lives more
affluent.
Therefore, we have changed the evaluation criteria of the contest as
follows:
[Old] "Styling (priority is on the completeness of design) + Concept (
explanation of design: story)"
[New] "Social Design in 2040 (priority is on the Identification of
issues) + Concept (solutions) + Design (visual images as explanation)"
We selected "Social design" related to urgent issues such as
environmental problems, natural disasters, transportation safety, and
energy, as well as the construction of a new social system centered on
services.
