TEAM APEV with Monster Sport Adopts New Charging System for the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
To preserve and realize self sustainable society by promotion of electric vehicles, the Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (APEV) and its chairman, Soichiro Fukutake move forward with the third year challenge as “TEAM APEV with Monster Sport” at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado U.S.A. scheduled June 22nd through 29th of 2014. With the 3rd year challenge, TEAM APEV with Monster Sport will reinforce their recharging system in aim for achieving victory.
Since the start in 1916 the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is now a hot spot for strong competition in the Electric Car class. The increased rivalry stimulates development of engineering techniques and encourages promotion and population of electric vehicles.
“TEAM APEV with Monster Sport” aims for the second win with the help of key charging equipment such as Yanmar clean diesel generator ‘AG45SH’ which can provide electricity while keeping a low impact to the environment and Nichicon manufactured CHAdeMO standardized charger ‘NQC-A502’which can safely quick charge the race car batteries.
By earning victory in the world’s harshest racing environment where media and press from around the world gather, we will show the world the technologies from Japan and promote their engineering excellence.
Yanmar Co., Ltd. [AG45SH] ‘Super Silent Diesel Generator’
[AG45SH] ‘Super Silent Diesel Generator’ is designed to generate electricity while operating as silent as possible. It is equipped with a clean emission engine and a large muffler with extensive suppression techniques to maximize silencing. The exterior paint design is special for “TEAM APEV with Monster Sport”.
Nichicon Corporation [NQC-A502] ‘50-kW Quick Charge’
[NQC-A502] ‘50-kW Quick Charge’ is a compact size 50kW high capacity quick charger for EVs (Electric Vehicles). The charger’s compact installation size is exemplary as the limited space in the pit area can be efficiently used without sacrificing required space for vehicle maintenance. This model is certified for the CHAdeMO system which can recharge EV batteries swiftly and safely.

The ‘2014 Monster Sport E-RUNNER Pikes Peak Special’ is an improvement of the previous year model with many performance enhancements. The legendary Pikes Peak driver Mr. Nobuhiro Tajima will take the wheel, and move forward with the strongest battle formation in aims to attain a successive win.
